How far behind...

As you can see, my grand plans for this blog have not panned out; My third posting in 9 months is rather pathetic and indicative of my general lazy and procrastinating nature. Nonetheless, I may as well update the situation on our adoption.

We got our CIS clearance letter right around Christmas of 2005, and found out that our paperwork was grouped with several other families to be sent to China sometime in Feburary of 2006. Based on what we know about how things are going at the moment, I think we're in for the loooooong wait.

In the meantime, we prepare for summer in Seattle - a great time of year here with daylight until 10pm, and the prospect of temperatures in the 70's to 80's with no humidity. Makes the wet winter worthwhile.

For anyone following family details, Emma will turn 5 in August, and will start Kindergarten at Schmitz Park Elementary in West Seattle. At the risk of being cliche, it's hard to believe how fast the time has gone. In other news, we are attempting a gas diet - limiting our driving to 100 miles per week. It's not easy, and we are a bit in the hole at the moment, but Karen was able to parlez our efforts into a radio call-in show hosted by KUOW.

Emma also had her first real skiing experience this winter, as evidenced by the photo. We skiied at Snoqualmie, which is family friendly but not a real challenging ski experience. Hopefully we'll have more of that to come next winter.

Happy Memorial Day. I'll probably celebrate with Emma at Folklife, while Karen will run down some real deals at the Value Village 50% off sale - a favorite event of hers. And I will try to check in a bit more frequently in the future.

Really loving Pandora, by the way. Some of my favorite recent finds linked on this page.
